who we are

The Australian Rural Health Research Collaboration is a partnership of four rural health research centres and associated health services that has been working to build rural health research capacity in New South Wales since 2002.

The Collaboration is administered by the University of Sydney, and funded by the NSW Ministry of Health under the Health Research and Development Capacity Building Infrastructure Grants Program.

Our partners have collaborated for 9 years, because of the major benefits that ensue from working together, which include: the sharing of ideas, resources and expertise to undertake health research in complex and often fragmented rural community environments. The Collaboration enables joint planning and implementation of robust programs of relevance to achieve improved health for rural Australians, bringing public and population health approaches to health priorities.

our mission

To undertake an innovative and robust program of research and development that leads to sustained improvements in the health of rural communities through strengthened capacity in Research & Development through:

  • Establishment of effective research partnerships between academia, industry, health
    services and local communities

  • Fostering the development of a culture of enquiry and evidence based practice in health workers

  • Building a skilled research workforce

  • Establishment of effective mechanisms for translation of research results into improved health practice.

our vision

Sustained improvement in the health of rural communities through strengthened capacity in Research and Development.
